Polymer based Hold coating product, Easy to apply on SHIP HOLD SURFACE. Slip Barrier Coats HOLD BLOCK is POLYMER BASED non-reactive coating materials which makes thin film barrier on the surface after dry. Due to the formation of RXSOL THIN barrier film on the surface, the cleaning operation after unloading becomes quicker and easier with optimum results.
RXSOL HOLD BLOCK is a Heavy Duty protective Solution for hold of vessels, which carry corrosive and/or messy cargos such as sulfur salt petcock coal, and concentrates. It can be easily removed with itRecommendation Dose for smooth surface :
for Sulphur, Salt, etc 100 Ltrs/Hold for HANDYMAX & 150 Ltrs/Hold for PANAMAX
& for Petcoke, Coal, etc 200 Ltrs/Hold for HANDYMAX & 250 Ltrs/Hold for PANAMAX
This material can be used directly with low-pressure machine or manually by a garden spray pump. in general practice on smooth & clean surface each drum of 210 ltrs cover 2000 to 2500 sq meters while on rough and rusted surfaces require more quantities of materials.
for HANDYMAX (5 Holds) : In general 500 Ltr to 1000 Ltr RXSOL-22-2210-210 require to cover area up to 12 mtrs , i.e approx 1/2 drum to 1 drum of material is sufficient for each hold , while
for PANAMAX (7 Holds) : In general 1000 Ltr to 2000 Ltrs RXSOL-22-2210-210 require to cover full area. , i.e approx 3/4 drum to 1.25 drums of material is sufficient for each hold.

What is Hold Block and why hold block application is better than LIME WASH?
When aggressive or corrosive dry bulk cargoes—such as fertilizers, salt, coal, or sulphur—come into direct contact with the metal surfaces of ship holds, they can cause rapid corrosion and surface degradation due to chemical reactions. This not only weakens the structural integrity of the vessel but also leads to costly repairs and safety risks.
To prevent such reactions and ensure long-lasting surface protection, a polymer-based protective coating is the ideal solution.
Why Use Polymer based HOLD BLOCK Coating in Cargo Holds?
-
Chemical Resistance
Acts as a barrier against corrosive cargoes, preventing direct metal contact and chemical reaction. -
Easy Application
Applied by brush, roller, or spray before cargo loading. Forms a durable, even protective film. -
Temporary or Voyage-Specific Use
Perfect for short-term voyages carrying highly reactive cargoes, allowing for easy cleaning and reapplication after discharge. -
Prevents Pitting & Rust Formation
Shields steel from moisture, acidic residues, and abrasion, reducing long-term maintenance costs.
Field and Typical Applications of HOLD BLOCK
-
Sulphur
-
Salt
-
Phosphates
-
Urea
-
Coal & Petcoke
-
Cement
-
Bauxite
Why Hold Block is better choice than LIME COATING
-
Polymer-based water-resistant coating
-
Safe on all standard marine metal surfaces
-
Compatible with hold cleaning chemicals
-
Non-reactive, non-toxic, and easy to remove
-
Protects for the entire duration of cargo voyage
Recommended Use of Cargo Hold Block
Apply 1–2 coats uniformly across cargo hold surfaces prior to loading reactive cargo. For enhanced protection, focus on:
-
Tank tops
-
Bulkheads
-
Frames and internal structures
-
Hatch coamings

Note that In case of discharge of acidic or alkaline products into the sewerage system the pH must be in the range of 6-10 since higher or lower pH values may damage the sewerage system or impair biological dosage treatment plants. So that for maintaining pH we have to add acidic / basic medium neutaliser . For example if pH is less than 6 basic neutraliser is required and if pH is more than 10 acidic nature neutraliser is required. For details of any guideline pl.
