Procedure:
.20, 18,16,14,12,10 and 8 drops of distilled water was taken in 7 test tubes with a calibrated pipette.
.Adding 0,2,4,6,8,10 and 12 drops of Mohr’s salt solution to each of the above tubes so that the volume in each is equal to 20 mL.
.20 drops of sample water was taken into a different tube with the same pipette.
.Adding 1 drops of Hydroxylamine hydrochloride solution into each tube.
.Add 3 drops of 1,10 phenanthroline solution to each tube, stir the solutions and wait for 5 minutes for the colour to develop (reddish pink colour).
.Compare the colour of sample water with the colour of the other tubes.
.Deduce the amount of iron from the colour chart of iron.
Result: The amount of iron in the sample is ________mg/L.
